Our Teaching Philosophy
Little Turtles Playhouse will work to educate and nurture the whole child (socially, emotionally, and cognitively) so that each child grows to become an active and responsible citizen who demonstrates independence, confidence and responsibility for him/her self and those in his/her community. We will take a strength orientation toward all children and will meet each child where they are developmentally. We will honor their accomplishments and invite growth and challenges. We will embrace the world as a diverse place, and will celebrate differences, including race, class, sexual orientation, physical ability and religion. We align our monthly lessons plans to coordinate with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS).
Classroom Approaches
A Center based model
Centers invite freedom, creativity, and naturally differentiate in a multi-aged classroom. The Centers will focus on the following curriculum areas:

- Social Studies & Culture
- Practical Life Skills.
Within these seven areas, music and second language learning and sensory materials will be incorporated.
Rituals and Routines
Daily rituals will include songs, short creative movements, nursery rhymes, poetry, and mini-lessons (days of the week, weather, counting, colors etc).
Experiential Learning
Discovery, problem solving and reflection will be used with real life, hands on experiences.
Project Based/Inquiry (for ages 2.5-5 years)
We will ask big questions and using all the sign systems to explore the question and work to find an answer.
